LED Lights vs. Incandescent Mini Lights

This is time to start think about how to prepare for the next holiday season. How will switching to LED Christmas lights benefit me? I am afraid of the up front  costs. I am afraid I wont like the colors. Are there as many options as there is with traditional mini lights? Are LED lights safe? These are all questions that we are here to help answer. It is so easy to get overwhelmed with the different choices in Christmas lights nowadays, we understand.

  • How will switching to LED Christmas lights benefit me? - Well there are many upsides to choosing LED lights.
    • One of the benefits is that you can plug many more sets together than with traditional Christmas lights. Regular mini lights you can only plug 3 sets end to end, safely. With LED Christmas lights you can safely plug about 30 sets end to end. This means you can have an easier decorating experience with fewer extension cords and longer runs of lights.
    • One more major benefit for LED light strings is the average burning hours being at about 50,000 hours. With regular mini Christmas lights it is about 2,500 hours.
  • I am afraid of the up front costs. - We understand that many people are trying to save as much money as they can in these difficult economic times. LED light strings are much more expensive in the up front costs then regular incandescent mini lights. But if you consider the savings on your energy costs and other benefits from LED's then you might reconsider.
    • A major benefit of LED lights is that you save so much money on your energy costs around the holidays. Even if you do a huge lights display for the holidays it is better to have all LED lights since they use significantly less energy then regular mini lights.
    • The life of LED light strings can also help you save money. Above we talked about the average burning hours for LED's. When you think of that compared to the mini lights you can see that you will be replacing these lights much less often then traditional lights. That is music to most people's ears. That will help save a significant amount of money just not having to buy a few strings here and there. These will have a long, long life with you for the holiday seasons to come.
  • I am afraid i won't like the colors. - This is a common fear with switching to LED lights, especially when you want to stick with a classic clear or white.
    • If you want to stick with the traditional look of mini light clear but with LED's you will want to get warm white. It has the same look just with a different bulb style.
    • If you want something a little fresher or modern then you might like pure white. It has been known to have blue tint. But it is a truer "white" than the other colors.
    • All the other colors are close to the same as mini lights, just brighter with LED light strings.
  • Are there as many options as there is with traditional mini lights? - There aren't quite as many options in bulb spacings and counts. But the selection continues to growing every day.
    • Most LED light strings come in 4" or 6" bulb spacing.
    • Most LED light strings come in 50 or 70 bulb count.
  • Are LED lights safe? - LED lights are some of the safest on the market.
    • LED bulbs do not get hot like with incandescent lights. There is no risk of fire or burning from your Christmas lights. You can leave them on all the time with no worries at all.
    • LED lights are made from hard plastic instaead of the tradional glass with mini lights. No risk of breaking if your drop them. We have tested them on concrete floors ourselves. Plus, you don't have to worry about them braking in your storage.
These are just a few of the main benefits for LED Christmas lights. Check out the large selection here
